MMC Objectives

MMC's objectives align with the African Union's strategic focus on the solid minerals sector, aiming to:

1. Promote beneficiation, value addition, industrial linkages, responsible investments, innovation, and diversification within Africa's mineral industry.
   
2. Cultivate a diversified and globally competitive African mineral industry that fosters broad economic and social growth by establishing and nurturing linkages across sectors.

3. Advocate for good governance in mineral resources development to enhance the well-being of local communities in Africa.

4. Champion sustainable development principles grounded in environmentally and socially responsible mining practices, safeguarding human rights, health, safety, and the welfare of local communities and stakeholders.

Beneath the surface of Africa lies a wealth of mineral resources of enormous value. In 2019, the continent produced almost 1 billion tonnes of minerals worth $406bn.

According to the United Nations, Africa is home to about 30% of the world’s mineral reserves, 12 percent of the world’s oil and 8%  of the world’s natural gas reserves.- (Al Jazeera)

The Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Mines, Steels Development and Metallurgy is proud to introduce to you, Mineral and Miners Centre (MMC)/Richflood Minerals implementing a solid minerals value chain addition initiative through projects and programs locally in Nigeria and abroad. The key objectives of their programs and projects are to create an integrated solution-driven platform interconnecting stakeholders at different levels most especially relating to Mineral Beneficiation Machinery Manufacturers (MBMM) globally for the benefit of indigenous miners in Nigeria. The solutions articulated by the teams onboard the program tactically seek to address the myriad of challenges in the solid minerals sector. The idea, when fully implemented, will add to ongoing efforts to optimize a shift, proffering solutions from the grassroots level upwards by boosting environmental, economic and social sustainability.
